Grilled foods, nowadays, are getting popular. It can either be beef, lamb, fish, pork, vegetables and even fruits. People are getting conscious of what they eat.
We, yes including me, would rather eat grilled foods than pan-fried nor deep fried foods. The lesser the oil, the better (Unless you have an active lifestyle where you burn fats). Fats and oil can be addictive. It enhances and gives flavor to foods. Too much of fats and oil can cause high blood pressure, obesity and even heart problems.
You can also grill at anytime of the day. There are now available portable grillers (like I had bought one, it is by Masflex) which you can use both for indoor and outdoor. There are also grillers that are electric or can be placed on top of a stove.
For the marinade
1 cup Soy sauce
1/8 cup Sesame oil
1/3 cup Rice wine
2/3 cup Red onions, chopped
1/2 cup Sugar, white
2 teaspoon Garlic powder
2 teaspoon Ginger powder
1 kilogram Chicken breast, fillet
1 can Pineapple slices, drained
Procedure:
1. In a bowl, mix sugar, garlic powder, ginger powder, red onion, rice wine, soy sauce and sesame oil. Use whisk or fork to mix until well-blended and dry ingredients are dissolved
2. In an air tight container, place in chicken fillet and pour in marinade
3. Place in refrigerator for at least 8 hours or overnight
4. Fire up griller (I prefered the charcoal griller since the smoke actually gives the unique flavor of grilled foods)
5. Brush marinated chicken with oil on all sides (this can help in locking the juice inside the meat)
6. Grill each side around 6 - 7 minutes while grill pineapple until grill marks are visible
7. Serve hot
Tips:
* Do not throw away the marinade. Bring the marinade into a boil and thicken it by adding thickener (1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup water). Remove from fire if the sauce thickens. Add sliced onion leeks.
